I am amazed at how time is passing by! I am so excited. I think we may look through the name books again. Danny suggested Lisette, calling her Lisi. It was his cousin's name before she changed it to Lisa because she didn't like the name. Well, I'm with her. I really don't like the name so much. I like Lisi. I actually played field hockey in college with a Lisi. I'll get out the name book and look some more. More then likely we'll just wait until the baby is born. Or maybe I'll dream it! That would be great!
I'm still at 134lbs. Belly at 36 1/2. I feel good though. I do get shaky legs sometimes when I put my legs up or lay down. Probably just pooling blood. I'll ask my midwife on Monday. My stomach still isn't quite right. Lots of gurgling, but I am eating good. Rosie's cultured veggies are delicious!
My father in law is in town. I've been a bit anxious about his visit. I really feel I need my space and privacy! I'm doing ok. I am glad that he really can't just sit still. He likes to go and do and that helps. So does yoga for me!
I talked with a woman at the park the other day. Her daughter, who I also spoke with, is planning a homebirth with another midwife I considered. I'm glad I changed my mind. The daughter is pregnant, due end of May. She has had 3 other births, getting "stuck" at home at 7cm and having to go to the hospital. Her midwife would then be able to administer....I can't believe it..... Cytotec. This is a prostaglandin-like chemical used, FDA approved, orally for ulcers. Somewhere along the line someone found out that if you place a quarter of a pill on the cervix it works like pitocin only cheaper. It also is used for early abortions. Anyway, there is so much controversy surrounding this pill. It isn't FDA approved for pregnant women, much less in birthing. So, this girl's midwife would give her this in the hospital for each of her births. Now, living in town, she "happily" found a homebirth midwife who will administer this horrid pill at homebirths. AHHHHH!!! I am shocked. It has caused so many problems. Her midwife did say that she didn't believe she would need it and she would do everything to help her move along past 7cm. I am so glad I did NOT chose that midwife, just on that careless principal. Also, this pregnant mama has had seizures! (of course Cytotec is contraindicated for those with seizures and may even CAUSE them!) And to have this dangerous pill administered at a homebirth is even more risky in my book. Of course I had to check on line to find out more...

http://www.drugs.com/cons/cytotec.html (mentions that this can be linked to seizures)
Epileptic seizures have been reported with prostaglandins and prostaglandin analogues administered by routes other than oral. Therefore, misoprostol tablets should be used in known epileptics only when their epilepsy is adequately controlled and then only when expected benefits outweigh potential risks.

Hopefully our paths will cross again and I'll be able to share some information with this mama. I really don't understand how our "medical" profession can be so careless. Women have suffered at the hands of those they trust. But in this time, pregnant women should be on the ball. Gosh, we have the internet! Google it before accepting it!!! At least!!
